Blue Star Families, Banana Pudding, and Daydreaming

Blue Star Museums is a partnership among Blue Star Families, the National Endowment for the Arts, and more than 700 museums in all 50 states to offer free admission to active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day, May 31, 2010, through Labor Day, September 6, 2010.

Thought for today, from Christina. Encourage your child to daydream. Think of daydreaming as the polar opposite of attention deficit. It is allowing a thought to travel and drift to its natural conclusion. While it doesn’t provide a concrete answer or immediate solution, it is a self-soothing skill that calms and diffuses our working metabolism. I can easily see recall a teacher chastising her pupil for staring out the window, lost in time and space, considering this wasted youthful energy. Instead, how about a 10 minute “recess” of daydreaming? Let’s respond to summer boredom blues with “sit down somewhere and daydream!” Let the dreaming begin
