If you've never heard the roar of a
four-engine bomber flying overhead, never seen the grace of a
prop-driven fighter plane, this is a good opportunity to experience
something that won't be available forever.
The planes will fly into McClellan Palomar at 2 p.m.
April 27, and will fly out at noon April 30. In between they will be on
display and open for tours. Ground tours are $12 each ($6 for children;
WWII veterans are free), and 30-minute flights are $425 for the two
bombers, or $2,200 in the P-51.
Even if that's out of your price range, if you live in
the flight path of McClellan Palomar, it will be worthwhile to grab a
pair of binoculars and watch these beautiful old warriors arrive or
leave ---- it's a sight and sound like no other.
