A portion of the proceeds from all sales of Joe's artwork will be donated to benefit our education and conservation programs. The San Diego Audubon Society office located at 4010 Morena Blvd. Suite 100, San Diego, CA.
Joe Nyiri is a retired art teacher and artist-in-residence at the San Diego Zoo, serving 44 years as an educator and consultant at the Zoo. "As far back as childhood," says Nyiri, "I have always had that life-smitten love of birds. Crows, ravens, pheasants and cardinals in the early years--crows, owls and ravens today as well as the exotic birds at the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park. "I have been drawing birds and having my students draw birds while teaching at the Zoo and various elementary schools and select San Diego libraries. As far back as I can remember, birds were in my sketchbook and on watercolor and canvas surfaces.I have always been eager to include their presence in my artwork." Nyiri describes himself as a Renaissance man, having been a soldier, artist, father, athlete, husband, amateur poet and teacher. Nyiri's advice to young artists: "Don't put all of your eggs in one basket! Try many things in case one thing doesn't work out."
