Individual Counseling (aka traditional talk therapy) is not always the solution.
I encourage people to decide if now is the time to address those areas that are causing conflict or distress.
Therapy for couples and individuals can be so wonderful, and really help us "straighten out some things."
However, there are additional aids to get one's life on track:
Apps: (There are Apps for many things, including sexual dysfunction, insomnia, anxiety, depression, weight loss, meditation)
Retreats: I provide a long list, ranging from quiet/silent to guided, religious, for couples, 12 steppers, LGBT, women, writers, yoga, contemplation, depression, etc.
Volunteerism: A powerful and terrific way to find meaning and get a larger perspective on our place in the world (Guatemala, Africa, Habitat for Humanity)
Natural Supplements: Amino Acids
Naturopaths/Homeopaths: An alternative solution to prescription medicine.
Workshops: For Couples, Professional growth, Personal Growth
Life Coaches
Podcasts/Webinars: Tony Robbins, Marianne Williamson
Fellowship: Church, Sierra Club, Running Groups, Book Clubs, Cooking Class
Mentor: Identify someone that you admire and can guide you towards your future goals.
Books: Several Self-helps available. Buy 5 and read them.
Online Support Group: There's an online support group for everyone.
Outpatient Treatment: Local hospitals provides Intensive Outpatient for most issues - Substance Abuse, Eating Disorders, ADHD, Depression, PTSD. They are effective and covered by most insurance!
