Wahupa Educational Services
Upward Bound Project Director
The Program Upward Bound (UB) provides program participants the skills and motivation necessary to complete a program of secondary education and to enter and succeed in a program of postsecondary education. Upward Bound serves High School students who are primarily low-income, potential first- generation college students and students who have high risk for academic failure.

• Speak language/s spoken in the target communities preferred
Duties and Responsibilities of the part-time advisor
• Maintain a participant case load within the funded number to be served
• Able to work evenings, nights, weekends and over night
• Travel to target schools on given days
• Provide academic & personal guidance/counseling to participants as needed
• Assist in planning & implementing participant recruitment, Saturday enrichment workshops, participant activities, parent meetings & delivery of services
• Maintain clear records of services rendered to participants
• Maintain collaborative relationships with each of the target school administrators and counselors
• Honor agreements with school districts, target schools and all other activities to which the project is committed
• Set a safe, structured, and fun environment to high school students
• Other related duties as assigned
Required Education, qualifications and/or Experience
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in education, counseling, psychology, sociology or related field combined with at least one year experience working with project population
• Experience in implementing complex services and activities to large number of participants
• Computer literacy; data-entry experience
• Ability to relate to students and/or parents of low-income and diverse cultural backgrounds
• Knowledge and experience in completing college and financial aid applications
• Knowledge and experience of the University and Community
College systems and admissions procedures
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Successfully pass a background check
• TB test required
Compensation
• $13-$16 an hour based on experience
